Aesthetic dentistry

The aim of aesthetic dentistry is to create healthy, harmonious dentition according to the needs of our patients. Our treatments aim to achieve an aesthetic condition that is as good as or better than the original, with as little intervention as possible. To restore teeth, we use aesthetic fillings, porcelain veneers and crowns.

Aesthetic fillings

We restore decayed teeth with aesthetic fillings using a painless method, using a filling of the same color as the tooth, so that the filling is not visible to the outside eye. In our practice we use products from the world’s leading filling material companies.

When is an aesthetic filling recommended?

Aesthetic dental fillings are a type of filling that can be used for small to moderate tooth decay. It has the advantage that the restoration can be almost identical to the original tooth color, so that the repaired tooth structure is not visible to the outside world. It can be used with different techniques on visible front teeth, small molars, and large molars.

Which filling material is used?

Aesthetic fillings are created using different types of composite filling materials. In our practice, we work with products from the world’s leading filling material companies, so that the tooth is restored using the highest quality materials. Due to their properties, these materials can shrink and discolor minimally over time and may need to be replaced over time.

Inlays (inlay/onlay)

Inlays are a type of dental filling used in the case of a major shortage of small or large bristle teeth and prepared by a dental laboratory, which has the advantage of being durable, protecting the tooth well and not shrinking. In some cases, it can provide a more aesthetic and durable result than aesthetic fillings made in the dental practice.

When is inlay recommended?

It is a technical solution for caries of larger teeth that reach or exceed the gumline, small or large molars. The advantage of inlays is that they do not shrink, and a perfect edge seal can be achieved even in cases of caries below the gingival level. It can also be a durable and aesthetic solution for large gaps in tooth structure.

How does the treatment work?

While an aesthetic filling can be made in one session, an inlay requires a minimum of two sessions and is made by a technician. At the first appointment, the dentist will prepare the cavity, clean the cavity, shape the missing tooth, take an impression and then the technician will prepare the filling for the next appointment. After proper pre-treatment, the dentist will glue it in place. During the waiting period, a temporary filling material is placed in the cavity.

What types of inlays are there?

The types of dental restorations can be grouped according to their materials. There are porcelain inlays, gradia or ceramide inlays and precious metal inlays. In porcelain inlays, the missing part of the tooth is made of pure porcelain, whereas in gradia and ceramide inlays, the inlay is made of a special, high hardness plastic. If precious metals are used, the inlay is made of dental gold or porcelain fired to gold.

Veneers

A method of covering the outer surface of damaged, aesthetically compromised front teeth and small molars that are visible on brushing. This method is used to cover the outer surface of the tooth with a filling material or some form of porcelain veneer.

When is the use of a veneers recommended?

The veneers can be used in cases of damage to the outer surface of the front teeth and the labia minora, to achieve a perfect aesthetic result. Its advantages over a crown are that it does not require the entire tooth to be ground down, only the outer surface is affected, it is a less radical procedure, and it can achieve a perfect aesthetic result. There are limitations to its use: when there is extensive caries or when there is a high degree of bite irregularity, it is not advisable to use a porcelain crown.

Types of veneers and treatment procedures

There are different types of veneers, which differ in the material or technique used to cover the tooth surface.

Direct veneers

The simplest is the so-called direct shell, made of filling material, in which the surface defects of the teeth are covered with filling material after minimal correction, creating a beautiful outer shell.

Porcelain veneers

A more aesthetically and functionally accurate and beautiful solution than porcelain. Porcelain shells are made by grinding the outer surface of the tooth, leaving the back surface intact. On the outer surface of the tooth, the technician creates a porcelain shell that perfectly covers the tooth surface and fits the gumline, which is then bonded by the dentist after the teeth have been properly prepared. There are two types of porcelain veneers. The first is press-fired porcelain, where the veneer is made from pure porcelain, and the second is porcelain fired onto a zirconium base, where the shell has a zirconium base, and the porcelain is fired onto it. Both are aesthetically perfect solutions, but the zirconium veneers are stronger than plain ceramic.
